Polaroids

In this artistic exploration, my performance seeks to delve into the transformative power of images in shaping societal ideals. Conceptualized in three distinct acts, the narrative unfolds as one individual is molded to fit a predetermined standard, other crafts the image, and a third manipulates it into a symbolic representation.

The chosen place is a bustling corridor within the university to reach as many passing people as possible—an intentional parallel to the broad reach of mass media. The objective is to engage with as many individuals as possible, inviting them to contemplate the impact of visual narratives on our collective consciousness.

The human body serves as the canvas, a tableau adorned with a palette of colors, textures, and gestures. In this immersive experience, individual uniqueness takes a backseat, emphasising the primacy of appearance. The performance prompts reflection on societal norms dictating behaviour and aesthetics, as the space becomes a platform where rules of presentation and perception take centre focus.
